Job Acquisition Skills
Journal Entry: What methods do people use to find jobs? How is technology becoming a bigger part of finding jobs in today's society? How have you (or your parents or friends) found jobs that you (or they) have held? What do you need to acquire a job? How important do you feel it is to be prepared for a job even before you get it?

ReplyDeleteMany people look in the "help wanted" section in the newspaper. Also, many states have websites that you can go to and search for jobs. My parents found their jobs through adds in the newspaper. My dad has held his job for almost 20 years. To acquire a job, you need to be responsible and prepared. Employers want someone who is going to show up and be reliable. It is very important to be prepared for a job because most people hire you depending on your attitude.

ReplyDeletePeople can use various ways to find jobs such as looking for ads, the internet, or talking to businesses. Technology is becoming a large part of finding a job because many businesses have job applications online and thats how they advertise. The jobs that I have held, I didn't have to do anything. It is important to be prepared for a job because that way you look like a good person to your employer.

Technology is becoming a bigger part in finding a job because people look to the internet for everything, now including jobs. I found my job through my friends, they said we needed more lifeguards at the pool. My mom found her job because people were asking for the service. You need a resume to acquire a job and a positive attitude. You have to be prepared what you are getting yourself into, and know that you actually want to do that job because you apply for it.

ReplyDeleteThere are multiple ways that people can find jobs. From calling employers, to the internet, to newspapers, there are so many ways. Technology really helps people find jobs. Employers put advertisements for their business all over the internet. You can google jobs and you can always go to jobs that are specifically for job searching.
The jobs I've held have been through networking. I just so happened to know people or people knew me and asked.
To acquire a job you need to be sophisticated, organized, responsible, respectful, kind and more. It is very important to be prepared for a job because when you get it you want to be ready to go and do a great job.

DeleteNews papers are helpful for local jobs, but the news paper doesn’t have near as many options as the internet. My dad is a farmer/rancher and does everything by himself. He never had to look for a job. (Maybe in college) My mom found her job by her friends and she has worked there ever since. My father provides a job for me. You need to have good work ethics; you need to be responsible as well. You need to be honest and a driven worker to acquire a job.

ReplyDeleteOne main method of finding a job is looking in the newspaper, because that shows a number of job listings within the community that they can easily find near them. Another would be looking on the internet or contacting a company over the phone to seek applications or interview times.
Technology is becoming a bigger part in today's society because it is easier to access. Yes newspapers and magazines are used today, but it is more for entertainment rather than an actual intellectual level of learning or finding a place to work. That is more focused on the internet where everything become accessible. Companies put applications online, some are now doing interviews over social media apps such as Skype or Face Time for long distance applicants, you can look for credentials and contacts of the company you wish to be employed at, and more. Most of all, the main reason technology is used to much is that it keeps things efficient. If people can get their applications and interviews over the internet and on apps, there's no reason for lost data and keeps thing going instead of slowing production for a day.
My parents are independent. My dad was a farmer and worked on the family farm. About five or so years ago my dad started his own trucking business and hauls grain during harvest. He was then recommended, by the person who leases our farm now, to haul liquid fertilizer in the months that harvest is no longer going on. My mom on the other hand is a private business owner of a greenhouse in Highmore.
To acquire a job you must be able to maintain your stress. You have to be able to be creative, open minded, organized, intelligent, crafty, be able to speak like a civilized human being, and be able to cooperate with others on projects and as colleagues in the workplace.
You will not be fully prepared for a job, but you have to take into considerations that things do happen that you are not prepared for. There is always things that you are going to need to learn and that you will have to experience. It is good to know what you should expect, but you also have to know that what you will be doing is not always going to go to your plan, no mater how many itmes you try to stick to that agenda.
